Pastor - Randy Sinn
An introduction from Pastor Randy: I grew up in Evansville, Indiana and spent my formative years living there with my family, parents, four sisters, and one brother. After graduating from a college in Indiana, because of a number of circumstances, I ended up moving to Minnesota. It was while I was living in Minneapolis and St Paul, that the Holy Spirit led me to Luther Theological Seminary and that is where my wife, Michelle, and I met. And during our attending seminary, we were married.
I have served several congregations, all on the West Coast. In my last “settled call”, I served Faith Lutheran Church in North Lakewood, WA, for over 26 years. We heard God’s calling in 2014, and I accepted a new “interim call” from our Oregon Synod to begin serving as a Transitional & Interim Pastor. I have had a lot of fun in this call. It always amazes me how our Lord calls us to serve and where our Lord sends us. This is true for me. Perhaps it is true for you, too.
I look forward to serving you and working with all of you through this transition period in the life of this community, Zoar Lutheran Church. Thanks be to God. - Pastor Randy
Music Ministry – Mel Kubik
Mel Kubik is our minister of music at Zoar! In addition to providing accompaniment for services, which she has done for many years, she coordinates a variety of special music for worship.
Mel has been involved in Christian music ministries since she was in high school. She got her start playing the piano but her resume includes playing the saxophone, being a vocalist and accompanist, directing choirs and composing original music for numerous congregations in the Portland area and beyond. She has a BS in Music with a major in Saxophone Performance from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Her main focus in this ministry is to arrange for vocal and/or instrumental musical offerings three Sundays each month. She leads rehearsal for Ordinary Men’s group as well as a Combined Choir. She does a wonderful job, this is her joy and calling, a blessing for Zoar!
